I think that the white spot represents one of the cats lives. Since Pluto died and was a black cat it would be easy to notice a white, ghost colored spot.

The new cat is seen as a reincarnation of Pluto, and he seems to seek revenge, The white spot represents gallows and is horrifying and it represents Pluto being hanged.

The old cat didn't want to hurt the narrator. He bite him once when he got scared of the violence. But I think the new cat had intentions of hurting him because he would trip him and almost threw him down.

I actually think that the new cat seemed to like the owner more, maybe making up for what it didn't get to do in its first life, or maybe trying to be overly touchy, just begging the narrator to try to attack it again so the cat could destroy him

The spot on the new Cat was over it s heart where it could have represented a battle scar from the first cat Pluto and it had reminded him about it so he hated the cat, eventually this spot had morphed into a noose in his eyes thus reminding him what he had done.

I agree with Gabi's comment on how it was weird that the narrator thought of a bunch of different ways to conceal his wife and how it showed signs of mental illness. The narrator also started to feel proud of himself that he was able to hide his wife's body, rather than guilty and this further shows that he was spiraling down into insanity.

Making the connection between the cat left hung in the tree and Him wanting to keep the body in the wall instead of completely disposing of it. Also noting that he didn't/ couldn't let anyone see it, yet he let the cat hang in the tree for days, This is an interesting point to make.

It was brought up the treatment of people and animals are different, and I think its because of mentality. Some could see animals inferior because they don't hold the same status as people. This could be why he hid the body of his wife in the wall, and not in a tree like Pluto. It could be a symbolism for how to treat people and animals.

I believe that the cat was a figment of his imagination to represent the guilt he was feeling after he had just hung his favorite pet Pluto and the guilt started to eat at him. The new cat was a constant reminder of Pluto since the cat looked just like Pluto and the white mark around the new cats neck was a reminder that he hung Pluto. This caused him to start to go mad and then one day when the cat was annoying him he snapped and he ended up killing his wife.

I think it is good to make the point that the way he treated the first cat by hanging it and killing his wife and hiding her in the wall are showing how animals and people are treated in the time. You can see what he is trying to hide and what he isn't. I also notice the fact that he kept the body in the house and that's really creepy.

So it was said the fact animals are the reason he got caught was a ploy of irony. Seeing as how he maltreated them and started to hate them. Karma could have caused the thing he mistreated the most could seek revenge and get him killed. It could be that revenge convention we discussed in class.

Maybe the second cat was the god of the underworld who decided to punish the narrator. He could have possessed Plutos corpse to torture the narrator and make him suffer to show him what it would be like when he is sent to hell for his crimes. That would explain the strange gallows mark and the fact that he was missing his eye already.
